Flexible Bioenergy and System Integration

Flexible Bioenergy Workshop

On January 24th, 2020, Task 44 hosted a “Flexible Bioenergy Workshop” in conjunction with the Central European Biomass Conference in Graz, Austria. The Event hosted six different presenters who discussed the needs of future energy systems that operate with increased variability and how the flexibility offered by bioenergy could meet those demands. The presentations from this event can be found below.

Task 44: Flexible bioenergy and system integration Ilkka Hannula, VTT
Why flexibility? Integrating large shares of variable renewables into the energy system (IEA Wind Task 35) Niina Helisto, VTT
Thermal gasification-based hybrid systems: PtG & PtL Jitka Hrbek, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna
Flexible Bioenergy via Fast Pyrolysis Bert van de Beld, Biomass Technology Group
The future role of thermal biomass power in renewable energy systems; a study of Germany (Task 32) Morten Tony Hansen, Ea Energy Analysis
Flexible Biogas Systems (Task 37)  Richard O’Shea, University College Cork
