Value of Flexible Bioenergy – Report assessing electricity markets published
The economic value of flexible bioenergy in Austria, Finland, and Germany is assessed in our new report: IEAB-Task-44_Value_of_flexible_bioenergy
The economic value of flexible bioenergy is reflected in the impact on the merit order of electricity prices and the resulting effects on the procurement costs for electricity consumers. Results show cost savings from flexible electricity generation from biomass compared to baseload operation. Seasonal flexibility is crucial in Austria and Finland, while Germany experiences significant intraday variability. The results highlight the systemic value of renewable electricity from biomass.
