Bioenergy is one of several ways to meet the needs for flexibility when variable energy sources like wind and solar make up an increasing share of the energy supply. Bioenergy for flexibility has several advantages. The energy is stored in the fuel, at low cost, and can be utilized whenever needed. The technical solutions are multiple and well-known and can be applied at different scales.

World Bioenergy Association (WBA) together with IEA Bioenergy Task 44, hold this joint webinar – Bioenergy for Flexibility in Energy Systems on 2nd September 2024 at 10:30 CEST. The speakers presented best practice examples of flexible bioenergy from around the world.
